Lighting is something rarely talked about in wedding magazines and blogs but you see it in many photos. A lot of times, people walk into a party and they see that is beautiful but they couldn’t articulate what makes it beautiful. They may say, “the room feels warm and inviting.” The magic is in the lighting. It’s not something concrete like flowers or tablecloths. It’s something in the background but can pull the whole look together.
While I’m not saying that you must have lighting at your wedding, it’s something to consider. It can highlight architectural or design elements that you want to focus on at your reception. It creates depth and contributes to the mood you want to create. In some situations, with good event lighting, you may be able to get away with spending less of your budget on tablescapes. Event lighting can mask the often unflattering, existing overhead lights in a room. The lack of lighting in an area can down play elements you want to hide.
