A Sophisticated Fall Wedding in NY just before Hurricane Sandy
I realized a few things looking through my files recently:
- I never shared this beautiful wedding
- I survived 2 major storms in 2012 wedding season (the Derecho in June and Hurricane Sandy in October)
- I love working with sisters from the same family.
For professional photos, please check out the talented Ryan Brenizer’s blog post.
A few years earlier, I had coordinate the bride’s sister’s wedding here in Arlington, Virginia. When it was younger sister’s turn, the family called me again. Even though the wedding was in Westchester County, NY, I was more than happy to obliged. The wedding reception was being held at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, near Tarrytown, NY with its amazing on-site restaurant and its sister restaurant in Manhattan. Being situated on a farm, the menu was highly seasonal which also meant that we did not what would be on the wedding menu until a week or two before the wedding.
As the wedding date approached, Hurricane Sandy was also approaching fast. Everything turned out fine for the wedding itself but I recalled the drive home from NY to DC was treacherous as the rain began to pour. Eventually, I find out the the bride and groom had evacuated their apartment in Hoboken, NJ due to the hurricane. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend, followed by a sweet note from Mom. — Vicky

Whimsical Wedding Stationery
Last week, we featured a recap of one of last fall’s wedding. I wanted to give special attention to the invitations and associated paper products. They worked really well with the whole Art Deco inspired look of the wedding. The whimsical wedding invitation was designed by Happy Menocal, incorporating the couple’s initials into a floral crest with their pets peeking out from the floral border and the silver and purple color scheme. By extracting a few design elements from the invitation, we were able to carry the style through the rest of the wedding stationery. Cute right? — Vicky
