I hope you enjoyed the highlights from this beautiful wedding at Meridian House in Washington, DC last week. The paper products were so special that I thought they needed a dedicated post. Carina Herman of LBC Design Co designed all the “day of” stationery. She also designed the ones from the couple’s rehearsal dinner. Before the big day, the custom illustrated Save the Date postcard were designed by Carolyn Belefski and we found coordinating invitations on Minted. All photos by Kurstin Roe unless otherwise noted.

Here are the highlights from this beautiful wedding at Meridian House in Washington, DC. We enjoyed planning this wedding not only because the couple are lovely people but because we worked really hard on making decisions that really personalized the wedding for them. Style: Romantic Vintage inspired by New Orleans and France (the groom’s heritage)

Color: Mint green, blush pink, and peach with black and gold accents. The black accent reminds them of the iron work of the railings of New Orleans, a favorite vacation spot for the couple.

Synopsis: As guests arrived, they were greeted by the sounds of a French jazz ensemble while enjoying cooling lemonades and cucumber water. For an intimate ceremony, guests sat in a circle surrounding the couple who stood in the center on a bed of rose petals as they exchanged their vows. As avid readers, the rings and vows were contained in old books as their mothers read excerpts from The Little Prince and The Velveteen Rabbit. The cocktail hour featured 3 signature drinks favored by the couple: a Sgroppino reminding them of Italy, Patience of a Saint for the bride, and a Mint Julep for the groom. The guests dined on a scrumptious 3 course dinner, ending with an assortment of dessert options including a variety of macarons, a gelato cart, and mini cakes from Maggie Austin. After dinner, a cigar roller rolled cigars for the guests. The couple danced to Crazy Love, Van Morrison. A painter captured the entire magical evening in an oil painting. As the night came to a close, guests were served the groom’s favorite, cookies and milk.

For the bride and groom who are avid readers, the rings and vows were carried in old books.

For an intimate ceremony, guests sat in a circle surrounding the couple who stood in the center on a bed of rose petals as they exchanged their vows in the Meridian House garden.

Veronneau, an international world-jazz ensemble specializing in bossa nova, jazz, samba and swing, entertained the guests during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner.

Lots of interesting textures in this table design with blush and mint green with a strong black accent and gold.

Maggie Austin Cake’s cakelets provided a small bite of cake, perfect as part of a larger dessert buffet.

Dan Nelson, a brilliant painter, captured the magic of the evening with his brush strokes.
