Perfect Spring Day Wedding at Bull Run Golf Club in Haymarket Virginia

For our associate coordinator, Jen Briley, this could not have been a better client for her very first wedding as a lead coordinator. Our couple was kind and fun and the day could not have gone better. Our bride had the biggest smile on her face the entire day. Congratulations, Jen! A Summer Gujarati Indian Wedding at Sheraton Tysons in Virginia

With every wedding, we learn something new. Even though we have been planning Indian weddings in the Washington, DC area for years, last summer we learned that Gujarati Indians tend to be more conservative from our clients who got married in Virginia. While the wedding itself was no less spectacular, it meant that we had minimal dancing. I wanted to share with you the highlights from their wedding day.

A Starry Night Wedding at Josephine Butler Park Center

Inspiration can come from anywhere. A conversation under a starry night sky provided the style inspiration for our client’s December wedding, using midnight blue and accents of gold and silver providing some sparkle. Spilled Milk Catering did a wonderful job designing an almost all-vegan menu. All photos by Stephen Gosling

This constellation design by Archer and Olive appeared on the couple’s invitations and we used it again to provide our guests with a run down of the evening’s activities. Photo: Stephen Gosling

We wanted affordable floral options that still reminded us of the starry night sky so we actually chose to use baby’s breath and silver brunia. The baby’s breath looked like little stars. Photo: Stephen Gosling

Romantic Summer Wedding for Georgetown Alum at Omni Shoreham Hotel

I loved this couple as they were the kindest people one could meet. This is the part of my job I love the most. Our associates Arielle Blinick, Jennifer Briley and Juanice Jenkins did an outstanding job managing the event, despite temperatures in the high 80s. When you are a teacher, the only time you have available to get married is in the summer. Photos by Documentary Associates

Wedding Details: European Elegance at Meridian House

This fall wedding at the Meridian House in Washington, DC epitomized European elegance, with a black-tie affair. There was a sense of timelessness about the client’s style with a soft but muted palette of creams, golds and peach. Barbara von Elm from Growing Wild Floral Company did an amazing job designing the floral arrangements for the wedding – variety of textures, interesting compositions of dark reds and greens serving as a base for pops of creams and peach, asymmetrical but yet still with structure. Really beautiful! All photos by Paul Morse, unless where noted. Enjoy! – Vicky

Band: Adrian Duke Project (booked through Sam Hill). Funny story — the band arrives and at some point during the evening, I realized that I knew the saxophone player from somewhere. Well, we both figured out that he was the DJ from one of our weddings in 2007. Very random.

Real Wedding: Champagne & Pearls, a Fall Wedding in Arlington (Part 1)

Remember this sneak peek? The rest of this wedding story …

I’m a true believer in that inspiration for a wedding can come from anywhere. For this wedding, the whole look and feel came from the bridesmaids’ dress. A Priscilla of Boston brocade knee-length dress with empire waist and pleated bodice in a gold and silvery tone.

Priscilla of Boston bridesmaid dress PB134
Pretty, right? All the bridesmaids looked great in the dress, including the bride’s sister who was very pregnant.

The whole look followed the champagne and pearls look and feel.

One thing I love about this wedding was that there were quite a few surprises! Keeping them straight and remembering not to put them on the timeline were a struggle, but very fun in the end. One of the surprises was the groom’s cake, designed to look like a fire truck as the groom is a fire fighter in New York. How cute is this?

The bride and groom entered the ballroom on a red carpet, just like Hollywood stars.

Ceremony: St. Raymond of Penafort Roman Catholic Church, Springfield, VA. The couple’s church.

Reception: Holiday Inn Hotel Alexandria (Erin Hobson, Catering Manager)

Videographer: Blue Sky Films (Shelly Gross) It’s never a dull moment with Shelly.

Flowers, Lighting, Rental: Da Vinci’s Florist. I love working with Davincis because I think you get a lot of value out of your budget. Their ability to provide lighting and rentals will also help simplify logistics.

DJ: Emer Lunasin

Cocktail Hour harpist: Jessica Gallo

Photographer: Rachel Naft, RMN Photography. I was really impressed with the dancing pictures – lots of great moments. Rachel was in the thick of things, not afraid to get to the perfect spot for a photo without being obtrusive.
