I love the colorful wedding attire for Indian / South Asian weddings. As Covid restrictions were being lifted in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia, it felt good to be planning weddings again. Our clients had planned a destination wedding. But in the spring of 2021, the uncertainty of overseas travel safety led the couple to host a backyard wedding in Virginia at the groom’s parents’ home instead for a small group of friends and family.

What I remembered most from this wedding was how talented our client’s families were. The groom’s father can belt out a Broadway show tune, his brother can sing and play the guitar, and his cousin is an aspiring dancer. The bride’s relatives were delightful dancers as well! We witness all these talents during the Sangeet, held at The Ballroom in Bethesda, Maryland; and also during their wedding reception the following day at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
